If he sold it on ebay he's end up paying around 10% on fees when you factor in listing cost, final value fee, paypal and whatever else. If it's $950 on ebay 850 privately is more reasonable than 925.

Ebay caps the final value fee of 10% at $500. So even if your guitar sells for $1000 you still only pay $50 for final value fees. I sold my stingray in december and paid around $60 in fees between final value, extra pictures, reserve price, and listing fees off of the $860 sale price. Then Paypal takes an addition 3% or something like that. So I think off of that guitar after ebay and paypal fees I wound up with about $780. I didn't factor in fees when I figured it would go for about $850- $900. Had I thought about those fees, I would have just put it up on craigslist for $800 and it probably would have sold pretty quickly.

Even with that cap you paid 9.3% in fees if you took $780 from $860. The last time I sold a range of stuff the fees came in at between 12 and 17%, with the items being £20-80 or so. It's definitely worth keeping in mind when buying and selling with ebay. There's a noticeable lack of stuff on ebay UK compared to a few years ago before the last big fee increase.

i believe epiphone made these in the early 2000's along with that 'x-series' or what the fuck ever pieces of shit.

there were i think at least two more rare prototype gibson copies too. like an earlier proto of the explorer etc...

Besides,I put one of the "Final 5" up for sale in the classifieds. The one that is worth as much as the other 4 combined.
