Free pair of '65 RI Mustang pickups to anyone in the US...

... as long as they promise to make a comparison video of those to any other pair of stock Mustang/Duo-Sonic pickups. I'm honestly curious about how they stack up to '69 RI, Squier CV Duo, or vintage pickups, although I have no real use for them because I prefer noiseless pickups.

Who's in?

It'd be kind of cool if we could compile a list of people with various stock Mustang/Duo pickups, and then each person receives pickups, then keeps the one they prefer, and send the spare to the next person on the list. This list would be public so there would be name and shame if someone broke this circle.

My next project is going to be a Mustang and I really wanted to use 65 RI pickups. I will happily take them off your hands and will video once it's completed. I put a vintage Mustang pickup in my 1978 MusicMaster guitar I just finished and I could do a video shootout between them and the vintage one. Can I call dibs please?

I just sold my CV Duo Sonic and did a demo on YouTube. Got lots of positive feedback. The pickups in that guitar were nice and very bassy, especially the neck. I like the vintage Mustang better, but I would never hesitate to use those in a project.

I am not sure. I have the serial number but couldn't find a way to date it.

It's from an eighties reissue Strat. Apparently they're quite rare ... More info here:

hmm. interesting. i'd never seen one before but assumed it might have been off an early 80s mustang or one of the old japanese reissues.

This was my guess as well. The ebay auction simply said vintage Mustang pickup. Luckily Strat and Mustang pickups are pretty similar. This one sounds really good and has an output of 5.67K.

That would have been cool, but they only sold the one pickup.
