New guitars day and a couple of qustions

Post by hendrix1234 »

Heres my latest editions.
Firstly i picked this up a at a second had shop a couple of weeks back, has CBS? on the headstock , made in japan. its got a few chips but it plays really well.
i replaced the bridge pickup with a duncan 59 and its sounds alot better.

its got a fair amount of hollow in the body but its still really heavy for some reason.

Secondly i have an aria? or similar, in really good nick for its age.
i actually had this a while back and another one which this guard assembly came off.
i was thinking about putting different pickups in it, but they dont sound to bad and i have other guitars so i dont really wanna modify it too much.

NOw lastly is my question,
I have a MIM tele 72 deluxe and it has cracks where the neck screws are in the body, the right one isnt to bad but the left one goes about 10cm down from the hole and its all the way through.

i was thinking about glueing it, but i dont really want to open it up and possibly crack it more and its never given me any problems.
My question is should i part it out, leave it, or i have a set of GFS mean 90's and a spare pickguard with humbucker rings i was thinking about putting into it.

the last route is the one i was thinking as im not a fan of the neck pickup, but i really like the sound of the bridge one though, but i think the 90's would sound pretty good in it.

Let me know what you peeps reckon.

I was also thinking about cutting a new guard and putting single coils in it, but the mean 90's are probly the better option.

I like the Aria! Is that tremolo top-mounted or mounted like the one in the fender strats?

That Aria is really cool, did it used to have a screwed on name-badge on the headstock?

Thanks yeh its a pretty cool guitar, yeh im guessing it had a logo at some point, i think i have seen a tempo brand logo on one somewhere.

the bridge is top mounted but it has a square cutout underneath, kinda like a jag trem.
pretty similar setup to a jag but the bridge and tailpiece are in one.

any suggestions for the tele deluxe, i might just try the mean 90's any way and if i dont like it part it out.

another thought was to keep the neck and pickups and 2 of the pots and find a jazzmaster body and make a jazzblaster, or one similar with only the bridge pickup.

but being is Australia its a pain to find jazzmaster bodys cheap enough here.
