Need suggestions for an F spaced humbucker

Post by James »

I'm looking for a fairly high output bridge humbucker that can do metal tones, but is versatile enough to sound fairly good clean. Maybe even something like a hot PAF would fit the bill. It doesn't matter too much about being high output but it's a single pickup guitar and will probably just have a volume control so some versatility would be good but it is meant for teh brutalz. I could install a push/pull to split the pickup so 4 conductor is a bonus.

- The current one is F spaced, so it'd be good if that's true of the replacement.
- It also needs to be white (not cream)

I took a look at bare knuckle, but at a little over £100 is a bit too much. I'm tempted by some of the smaller more recent builders, and there's even that iron gear brand that are on ebay quite a bit.

Thanks in advance for the awesome tones.

I'm not the authority on tone or nothin', but if you can find a Fender Enforcer humbucker, try one of those. 4 conductor, really hot output (especially for a fender H) and apparently adjustable pole pieces?

I had one in my shitty strat copy (with a single push/pull volume) and it sounded pretty nice.

I've been taking a look at some demos and it seems versatile within a range, but I don't think it will get the heavy distortion sounds I want. There is one video of a guy playing metal type stuff with one but he did it straight into his computer with an amp sim and it sounds shite. Not all amp sims are terrible but either his was or he had it set badly.
