Jaguar keeps breaking strings

I put in a .13 as my e string. so far its held up. I usually use elixir, those have never snapped on me.

put a little bit of mechanical pencil lead on the nut and bridge then a little bit of chapstick and you'll never break strings!

ive been using .13 flats for at least 10 years now and never broken a string. i never even have to change them either, since there are no grooves on the strings to collect scum and shit

I was told flatwounds play havoc with the tension on the neck. Is there any fact in that?

Also, how the fuck do you manage to bend them anymore than a tone without snapping your fingers?

robroe doesn't bend strings. The practicality of 13s for most players is ridiculous so I wouldn't buy into it. It's also very uncomfortable so why would you do it? I think playing a guitar should be pleasurable.

Tip: If you are snapping strings in normal tuning it's unlikely to do with the strings at all. Check intonation and sharp edges where the string makes contact with hardware, and how you wound the strings in the first place.

Not true. My Jaguar came with and still has flat wounds on it. No problems at all.
