Mages Epi LP

Post by serfx »

so, i've got an Epi LP comign from Mages in the mail
obviously it demands a project, and many people would say to refinish it etc..
but i'm not going too

what i am planning on doing however is probably a bit of blasphemy to Gibson fans
but whatever..

see i have a few pickups coming from AVJ as well.. and i already have plans for the neck jazzmaster and neck jaguar pups..
but the bridge jazzmaster pup.. i didn't have a plan for off the bat, but i do now

Concept:

i'm not sure on if i want a pickguard for it or not.. the neck pickup will be the one that is currently in my Jaguar HH

Top switch will be standard LP switch

Independent Volume for each pickup, one tone knob with a tone switch to bypass the knob

however this could be a changed due to difficulty of modifying the body.

me too, i've been wanting to do something with a LP for a while..
the only part i think i might need to buy is the jack plate
i ordered a neck plate and bolts on ebay yesterday
the pickups should be here soon, and i'm damn sure i have tone and volume pots kicking around
i'll have to drill a hole to put in the toggle switch for tone cut. just not sure about the upper pickup selector switch.

Please do some form of les paul junior pickguard design - the single pickup one but with a cutout for a neck pickup would look really cool 8)

i was thinking that but i'm just going to go with the standard LP guard for now, as it was way cheaper.. i may not even use a guard..

Very true, it'd be more of a hassle to do a custom guard as well.

This looks like a fun project, I think it'll turn out pretty cool.

I've been wanting to put one of these on a les paul for a while..

http://cgi.ebay.com/Kahler-7200-Stud-Mo ... 2a0e878727

One of my favorite guitarists, Johnny Hickman, almost exclusively uses a 78 les paul with a kahler on it.

► Show Spoiler
Just treat the humbucker in the bridge position there as the jazzmaster pickup.

Then wire a dpdt switch that on one side that feeds into the tone control and on the other goes straight to the output jack.
