Japan vs US Pickup Comparison

Post by cobascis »

I got a new MIA RI Bridge Pickup for my jag, and thought I'd do a before and after sound comparison.

The MIA pup seems brighter, I lowered the treble side after I made the clip because the high strings rang out and over powered the lows.

Whaddya think? Worth the 45 bucks?

Ah, the FIRST is MIJ, SECOND is MIA.

Not sure which is which but i'll stick my neck out here and say the second clip was more rounded and less harsh. That could be partly down to pick attack though.

Is that Fender part # 0054494000?
I'm looking into getting a set for my MIJ, and the difference does sound good.

Sweet.
Thanks for doing the serial demo, it was nicely informative. I'll likely order the set (and try and get an F neck plate, bridge cover and try and find some Bronco knobs).

I think it's a definite improvement. In every demo of the CIJ/MIJ pickups I've heard, there seems to be a sort of clunkiness present as well as a lack of mids. I think blind test would be interesting.

I replaced the stock pickups in my CP Jaguar (and JM) with the AV '62 set after some intense research; I absolutely adore them. The hardest part for me was actually finding someone who had them in stock, so I'll just take a second to plug Darren Riley, who has them for $39.99 each and ships internationally.

i think the MIA one was missing the touch of clarity i was expecting. did you have the volume lower or something? it sounded not as good as the jap pup, imo.

i don't have a problem with the bridge in my CIJ, but then again, i don't really play it unless DR STRANGLZ is on.
