interesting "Does the cap type make a difference video". It is really well done but with youtube they all sound the same to me. You can see a little difference in the program he is using. Also, I only watched to the point that he was comparing them with tone on 7, so I bet as he rolls off more tone there is more difference.

Nice demo! Everything sounded muddy for the first chording he does each round but for everything else I was surprised to actually hear a difference in the Mallory that I found nicest. That was just listening and not reading which one was being played at first.

I did this to one of my guitars, did NOT like how it sounded sounded - shrill to my ears when I turned the volume pot down. Then again I'm one of those guys that plays with their town pot on around 4-5, its all personal preference I guess.SGJarrod wrote: the other thing I recommend more than the "good" tone caps is putting vol mods on all ur guitars if u use the vol knob alot..... just put a 220K resistor and a 470pf cap in parellel on the open ungrounded lugs of the vol pot..... makes the clean up more even and leaves highs intact as u roll the vol down.... again this is like $.50 of parts

did you use the cap and resistor or just a .001 cap?.... I have used just a .001 cap and it sounded shrill to me, that is why I like the lower value cap and resistor..... the other thing to do is use a lower cap value..... the lower the cap the less highs bleed thru..
if u did use the 470pf cap try lower value

I do the 50's tone mod or whatever it's called. I can't really explain what you do or how it works, just move a wire to a different lug, but you maintain a lot more treble when rolling down the volume. I've played with volume kits and don't really like them.

Think that's it. Not a massive difference, but easy and free.
