reported, that is absurd and violates fee structure. Its unfair that ive had to pay fees and this seller is clearly trying to avoid doing so.

But aren't final value fees based off the total price anyways? While the dude is disingenuous about the price, I don't see how he would evade fees (except the insertion fee, but didn't ebay just have free insertion fees?).

:D

Yeah, I'd totally pay for a trip to Japan for pickup... wouldn't be that much more, AND you get a trip to Japan.

Final Value Fees are evaluated based on the Sale Price not the Total Price so in this case 10 dollars. The paypal fees are based on the total amount but that is a smaller percentage so if you try it out yourself
http://www.rolbe.com/ebay.htm
ebay fees 1.75

if it was 1190 with free shipping ebay fees are
67.30

thats a more than $65 difference, unfair for others.
There is a reason why excessive shipping is a listing violation. If it wasnt for the fee difference ebay wouldnt care.

Confused by this....it says item location is japan, ships to United States, but in the ask seller a question section it says that this seller does not offer international shipping.

Also thought you couldn't ship guitars from Japan to the US right now.

eBay thank you for policing their site for policy breaches. How much did you get paid by them for your conscientious work? That's a rhetorical question, btw - I already know the answer.

I do. The total you pay is the auction/BIN price + P&P. Seems perfectly straightforward.
If you pay by PayPal - which they state is the only method they accept - you can always invoke 'buyer protection' if something goes wrong.

In the UK, $1220 (about £750) is close enough to the going rate for a brand new MIJ Mustang....if you can find anywhere that sells them. Then, if you can, you have a choice of whatever colours/spec they happen to have in stock.
Sucker? I don't think so.

Ebay can't force seller to follow through with the sale. At best, they won't allow the seller to go after you for non-payment or leave you negative feedback. The seller will be warned about their infraction and will either relist it properly, or come up with a new username and do it again. I bid and bought a Line6 pod 2.0 with full floorboard several years ago. Seller listed it in the wrong catagory and I was the only bidder got it for almost nothing. I completed the Paypal transaction within 5 minutes after winning the auction, but refused to sell it until I paid full worth. I never got it. Ebay/Paypal only fought to get my money back. Dude relisted it under different name the next month.

Also, I don't agree with the earlier comment about policing, either. If I've got to pay the listing fees, than I absolutely will report a seller cheating the system. Unfortunately, Ebay has told me via email that its a "worst first" policy. One report isn't going to get looked at. Only if multiple reports come in, will get reviewed and pulled.

Case in point, there was a local seller with $0.99 buy it now, on two celestion greenbacks. Red flags start waving and sure enough, fine print states no local pickup, and $200 in Shipping. I reported him for months, but he kept right on relisting every 10 days. Oh well.
