Les Paul Special

I went to my local GC to see if they had that FSR butterscotch blonde tele with flipped control panel(they didn't) but on my way out I notice this Les Paul Special. Has a gloss finish and neck binding and a tummy cut. I played it through a VOX VT 20+( I'm gonna get one) Oh man this thing kills! I went home and got my Les Paul Junior with humbucker and traded it back. They let me have the Special for $833.

While the tuneamatic still makes me sad, I think you've done the right thing: if that's one of the mid-90's ones (I think it is), I know a few people who have them and love them.

Looks killer with the binding. Hope you didnt ditch the ice tea les paul yet! It's my favorite of yours.

Thanks guys. I still have the Iced Tea. The Les Paul Special is a 2011.

I don't mind the tune-o-matic because I am a Bob Marley fan ,praise Jah Rastafari !

I bought this in an "African Import" shop in 1986 and I just found out what it is (Link)

"Large silver trilobe medal with integral imperial Ethiopian crown suspension; the face with the left and right lobes each bearing a rayed Trinity cross, the lower lobe with the Lion of Judah above an Amharic inscription in Geâ€™ez, a plaque with a portrait of Emperor Haile Selassie I imposed centrally; the reverse with an Amharic inscription in Geâ€™ez and dated â€˜1943â€™ (1950); the medal 67mm high by 52mm wide (2⅔ inches by 2 inches); ribbon lacking. When the Korean War broke out in 1950, Emperor Haile Selassie I raised a volunteer battalion from the Imperial Bodyguard for deployment under United Nations auspices. The force was named the Kagnew Battalion and fought alongside the United States Seventh Division. Between 1951 and 1954, three Ethiopian battalions (some 5,000 men in all) fought with distinction in Korea. An impressive and rare award of striking design."

Definitely. I love that guitar! And I really don't understand the tune-omatic haters. Wraparound bridges suck. My friend has one on his LP JR faded and it doesn't intonate at all if you want to play in any tuning other than standard.

Can you intonate a wraparound bridge to drop D? If so that works fine for me and will be non-plussed either way= +1 - 1 x whatevs.

Such a lovely guitar (including the TOM/tailpiece), would definitely fit as one of those "desert island" necessities in the guitar category.
