Aftermarket Jag/Jazz Trems..Anygood??

Post by JohnnyTheBoy »

Im trying to keep costs down on my Jazzomaster project, and as much as i'd love to, i cant justify £62 - £100 (including trem arm) + P&P for a new fender Jag/Jazz Tremolo :(

Anyone used aftermarket trems like these on their projects??
The cost seems fine to me, and includes trem arm too...my only worries are that they're made from MonkeyMetal...

This is the Allparts one...£36.00 including trem arm + p&p .....wondering if they're going to be the same quality as the ebay ones??...look very similar...

thanks in advance...

Yeah, I've tried 'em, along with Fender Japan and USA Fender units, at a wide range of prices, too.

Cheapies don't have the trem-lock. Plating is not as good as the genuine article, haven't miked the metal gauges, but they looked the same.

No monkey metal--all stamped cold-rolled steel.

Still, unless I was looking for anonymity, I'd pop for the Fender-stamped article.

Get a Fender one. If you cheap out, you'll never be in tune.

srsly. i want to figure out a way to make a sweet ass hardtail version/retrofit in order to make the lock permanent.

i dug the guy from offset's version, but they're as much as a regular trem unit, and they're just a flat piece of metal. i understand R&D and production costs, but chripes!

So are the cheaper ones worthwhile?...where are the best places to get the jap/usa trems and what sort of £ am i looking at..new and 2ndhand?...Are there any major differences with the Jap/Usa versions? they both look the same to me...same goes for trem arms...

Does it make that much of a difference to the trem?...I never really used or understood the one i had on my Jap Jag due to being a complete noob at the time (nothings changed)...as i understand it it's there to help you keep everything in tune if you break strings..
s' that right??

Well i have thought about this, and to tie everything together i thought if i got a no-namer then i could engrave the plate like this using my dremel...and wouldnt be miffed if i facked it up...

tuning stability when you break a string is the main reason for the lock
however i've also found it in creases tuning stability when you use the threm

Nope... So I guess It's a no-brainer..that it's outta the question then...
Saves money...
Buys fender...
Jobs a good un...

Well i bit the bullet and bought a new Fender Jap trem from Ebay usa!...£18.89 + £9.99 + about £7 import tax when it arrives..
So a fair bit cheaper than allpartsuk!...just gotta wait for it now.... 8)
