How in the world could that ever NOT be enough room to do whatever the hell needs to be done? Now the extra hole pisses me off. Fender must have been sitting on a bunch of extra holes.
weird. they have the guitar routes like there was going to be a switch down below and a rhythm circuit. I wonder if the original design was going to have a rhythm circuit but they decide to take it out to save cost.
Or they knew people were going to want to change them, so the just added the routes anyways.
if I get one I will deffinately move the 3way to the lower horn as it should have been there originaly...... mmmmm 3way
there is also enough room for a coil split switch and a stranglz on the jag....I just want to know if the hb's in the jag are 4 wire.... cuz I would be all about a coil split and stranglz on it as the DD pu's are just korean made Jazz and JB......
out of curiosity I looked on evilbay and all the DD pu's on there are 4 wire so I think these would be too

I'm not crazy about the bridge or jack plate, but at least they gave people the option to change the pickup and electronics by pre-routing it. Still, I wish it had a standard Jag bridge and trem - and didn't have a Strat output jack.
honeyiscool wrote:By extra hole do you mean the one on the bridge? That's definitely the one that irks me.
Seeing as how that hole appears to be the primary method of attaching the bridge (and subsequently some strings) to the guitar, I doubt it'd irk you as much in practice as it does on paper.
I played one of the Jags at GC and loved it. They're certainly more fun than a CV Strat/Tele.

The bridge doesn't bother me a single bit. It's fine. It's so unobtrusive that it amazes me anybody is whining about it. Shut your bitch mouths. It would take you all of about five minutes to figure out the right position for a TOM or rollerbridge, drill the holes out and install the damn thing. You're left with a single screw hole a few centimetres back that won't even show up from a few feet away. Then all you have to worry about is routing out the Jaguar trem hole which isn't a herculean task if you have a vague sense of what you're doing.
But that strat jack. Damn. It really is a barrier for me. I'm left wondering if I can fill it in with wood filler on the sunburst model and possibly disguise it as a major finish blemish. Probably not. Fuck the strat jack. It's a wonderful piece of engineering, but it belongs on a stratocaster, not an offset.

saw my first Squier Jag at guitar center today, fuck that things sucks.
huge ass knot in the wood. To think what quality wood they use on solid finishes.
frets were shit, bridge was shit, concentric pots were shit, pickups were shit
fuck this
I played it through an AC30 and FUCK I NEED ONE, sounded shit with the jag, but promptly picked up a CV 50s Tele which i love almost as much as my Custom.
