just get a sand paper suit, play the guitar for an hour, poor some beer on it and you have yourself a relic.

I've been dragging my feet, I know, I know... but I'm working on two other guitars also... just got the two faced gone. Girl & kids went out of town, so I had time to complete the paint job yesterday. I sprayed the color, sealer (tint) & clear coat. Gonna let it hang for a month to cure. Then I'll wet sand, buff & relic.

The white & yellow tint change depending on the lighting. In the last photo it more yellow. But in direct sunlight outside it's more white.

Jeannies made the guard for me. At the time I told em to leave out the upper controls. I wish now, that I had two rollers up on top so I could a set up like a Les Paul 2 vol/2 tone.

The paint is cured, the body has been sitting on my bench for a week now. I'm not exactly looking forward to the 3 - 4 hours of wetsanding, buffing & relic job.

I'm still trying to track down a pre-slotted nut for the Warmoth neck. I still need pickup shield & rubber pad also. Just happend to see the 64 pickup & guard shield on ebay for $48 shipped. I couldn't justify $50 for it though.

Dude, use concentric pots. Ton/vol for each pup in one spot.

I'm liking the serviceman-esque trem plate and weird pickguard colour combo.

Looks gnarly in a good way!

Okay, first off, this project is doing great, though i'm not a fan of relic'ing at all.
that said, rather than look at pictures of old guitars, and especially of fake relic'd guitars, just pay attention to where/how YOU play. you can pretty well predict where wearing would occur, and it would be at least more yours, then generic.
Make a gauntlet of rough sandpaper (Scratchy side out). Play for a month. Finished.

i'm not a fan of the maple neck.. maybe because of the overhang with the 22nd fret..
just looks a little anaemic or something..

however that said
it does work on this guitar, and you've done a killer job

what colour is that pickguard? is that regular pickguard material?

so pretty.. oh so pretty

great work

etc etc etc.

now make with "an demo" will ya ;)

I think you made some nice color choices with the paint, pickguard and JM covers. I am not a fan of the overhang neck, but no one will notice it with the larger JM body. I even like the relicing. Overall I think you had a really good idea and the execution was top notch as well.

I'm loving the subtle color interplay!

I'm not a fan of the relicking, because it does look a bit contrived. Your other choices and the work in general is very nice!

Couldn't be nicer. I really like it. Are you doing a headstock decal?
