They don't sound like strat style single coils. The have a much beefier sound(except in the out of phase middle position). My friend at JukeBoxOnFire described them like this:

"Sort of like a Fender single coil on acid. They have huge booming output and are almost like you put a Strat pickup and a Supro humbucker-sized single coil into a blender"

I really like that. Even with the gut hook headstock. Are they hard to find? The scale looks short, is it?

I saw this picture of a VOX Ace posted at The VOX Showroom. It looks different than mine. Is that an earlier model?
