Is it a 22.5 length, or just thin at the nut? I forget. It's not unforgivable to buy a longer neck and sell the old. It's already lost its cherry red paint. Of course it would be best to replace it with something of the same period.

Looks like a 24" (22 fret) neck to me.

I like the color - I think it works well with the aged pickguard. Nice score - congrats!

Some new pics! added some white button klusons, black pup covers, and trem arm, thus restoring "some" of the original mojo this guitar had back in the day :) really loving' this mustang for sure. took about 3 days of finagling to finally set it up perfectly and now it plays like a dream. still on the lookout for a '65 or later b-neck to pop on it though...

I don't know if I've ever used a A width neck.

If it is what I think it is (the classic series mustang neck) then it is heaven on earth! HAVE FUN

I think it is a really cool guitar. Unless you are in a position to have to sell it, just keep and see if it grows on you. You only just got it. You can always find a taker for this guitar, but once it is gone it is gone for good.

I read about your tuning troubles in your thread on offset. did you get it all sorted now? if so, what did you end up doing in the end?

...As far as pricing goes, its a bit weird to me that 1964 refin mustang fetches almost exactly what an MIJ/CIJ used stock mustang goes for? Even if it's mostly original?? That's just plain crazy.
Although the price hasn't been said I think it's a safe guess that it wasn't a steal. Still, when these are good they're very good and can definitely be a vintage bargain in playability terms. I'd still love an A width Mustang or Duo.

i think aug's '64 mustang was an A width, and i must admit i never liked the feel of that neck. B is about as small as i'm comfortable with.

other than that, i absolutely love this mustang. if it were mine, i might consider a refin eventually, but wouldn't feel ashamed to rock it as it is. may not be period correct, but it at least looks classy and well-done.

I bought an A width 64 Mustang neck, and it was way too small for my giant hands. However, my 69 reissue A neck is fine. Explain that!
