I think Fender must have signed up to a satanic pact back in the fifties, exchanging all their visual flair for the next five hundred years for the designs of the strat, Jag, Jazzmaster and Mustang. That can be the only explanation for the uggo shite they continually churn out since.

Old news ?

Erm... so yeah. What was called a 'Fastback' (diversion !!) from premier guitars is now called the 'Mustang Special'.

Does anyone think it's more offset than a tradition mustang ? I think it's probably just because of the straight p'ups.

Be good if someone can do a photoshop overlay ;)

or the guy with the design flair sold the company in 1965 and the aesthetics went with him.

Word.

Seriously, i cant remember the last time a new Fender release excited me. Possibly the Mascis Jazzmaster because i like Dino, but really, they are turning some proper crap out lately. The 51 is hilarious in the fact it is an inflated Squier design and that Mustang is just like the Blacktop models- another classic design raped.

Definitely looks different to me. The bottom of the guitar is more sloped, like a jag/jazz. A mustang is straighter/symmetrical at the bottom.

Yep, I had a look before and wondered if that was a massively shortened down Mustang body. Like, really, really shortened down. How small is that guitar going to be if it's not got the big ass of the Mustang? Fucking ridiculous.

thats just crazy..... In light of this new photographical info I retract my previous statement that I would buy this guitar if the price is right.... This thing would be tiny for my 6'3 frame

um yeah.... mustangs are already pretty small. I can't think of why you'd really want a smaller one. makes me think it will look like a toy in real life.

Ugh, I was so excited about those first rumors but if these are the final specs it's really frustrating. I can live with the 9.5 radius neck and the medium jumbo frets, although I would have preferred a straight-ahead Mustang neck. The tiny body I could probably deal with. But I can't understand the Enforcer pickups. They're ridiculously hot, like 24k, so I can't imagine they'll be useful or attractive to anyone who would want to play a Mustang-style guitar. I mean, are there really any metal shredders who have been waiting for a Mustang just for them?

So fine, I'd probably want to replace the pickups with some Novak WRHB's. But they've made it stupidly difficult to replace the pickups because of the dumb 2 screws on the bass side of the Enforcer. So in order to replace the pickups, I've also got to get a new pickguard with normal screw holes. Why? That's just stupid.

So close to the perfect guitar, but after replacing the pickups and the pg, probably just cheaper to build it.

if you're going the novak route, I'm pretty sure you could just send the enforcer pickups to him and he will rewind them for you.
