New classic player jag project

Post by hendrix1234 »

Just picked this up, i traded some other guitars i wasnt using for it.
ive had a few jags in the past and have always sold them, but hopefully this one will be different :)

It has CIJ mustang neck on it that has had a refret with jumbo frets, or something close but it plays great.

i was thinking humbuckers , or maybe some p90s. i do have a spare duncan 59 i can maybe put in the bridge until i can decide what to put it.

i would love to put a set of p-rails in it, bit im still not sure. it will have to wait a few months until i can get the funds together anyway.

But id love to hear if anyone has any suggestions on pickups?
also does anyone know the best place to get a guard from a classic player jag with humbuckers so then i can maybe just route the body using the guard
as a template for the humbuckers, other wise ill just use the old one.
ive had a look on ebay, but cant seem to find anything, i want one in black/white/black

Oooh, that's booootiful! Do you need to put humbackers in it? If you have another guitar with buckers, you should consider keeping with single coils.

AVRI pups with Bronco Knobs would be so sexy.

How is the intonation on it? I just sold my CP HH jag body because I couldn't get the intonation right with a MIJ Mustang neck. The bridge needed to be moved about half an inch back.

Here are some pickguards that might fit: http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=jaguar ... m270.l1313

I vote for P Rails. Good luck!

Since *REDACTED*, let me elaborate.

I filed the saddles on the stock bridge to match the radius of the new neck AND tried a mustang bridge. Neither would intonate. I had to move every saddle almost all the way back, and the low E and G were still off.

Hey, yeh it seems to intonate fine, i had a bit of trouble but it seems to be ok.

i have decided just to stick with singles and not route it out, i was thinking either duncan's or the AVRI like taylornutt said, which ones are better?

i was something fairly beefy, so the duncans are probably better yeh?

i am going on a holiday to the US in a couple of months, so i cam goin to try and pickup a classsic player jazzmaster, and put some prails into that.

It will be easier putting the humbuckers in the blacktop jazzy.

I would just put some BC dimarzio pickups in it along with 3 way toggley plate and locking tuners and call it a day
