Voltages across the EU have been harmonised so they're all 230V +/-10%. Strangely, in the UK we opt to run slightly on the high side of the tolerance at 240V. If it's designed for EU conformance it should be able to cope with 207-253V input.mrperson wrote:I saw that earlier too, does thomann sell 240V amps or is it all 230V? Thats why Id be hesitant to buy from them - that and the shipping costs.

Digging up an old thread, but has anyone played through a YCS50H? I may be in the market for a new 50w head depending on how the auditions go, and it's one I'm considering. I've seen a few demos, and I like the features I'm seeing.
Mostly I'm looking for something that sounds good when set on the brighter side. I need to balance out the other guitar player's Bogner rig, which is nice and full but doesn't cut the mix very well. Can't really get a full feel how it sounds from a Youtube demo.

I have no experience with a that amp but u may want to check the new Egnater Tweaker 40....looks dead ace for the price of $600... and guitar center and MF will allow u to use their discount coupons on Egnater gear
$600 @ 15% off =$510 for what looks like a very solid do all amp... I have not played the 40 yet but LOVED the Tweaker 15 combo I played

A friend of mine has a YCS50 (the combo version) and it sounds amazing. He's in a trashy garage two piece, so if that thing sounded shit on the treble side, It'd be pretty hard to hide. It doesn't. The crazy thing about it is that he's admitted that he's never really bothered with dialing it in and just plays it in whatever setting it happens to come out of the van in and somehow, it always sounds great. Hahaha. So um... I guess that's a good thing?

"Hey how do you dial in your amp?"
"I put it face down in the back of my van and drive 50 on Old River Road..."
I've not checked out Egnator yet. Guess I had a bit of a bias towards them because they were all the rage at Guitar Center last time I was there, which made me want to stay the fuck away from them. But since I'm off all next week, I'll have time to go in during the day when there aren't as many douchebags playing Green Day and Metallica.
Also on the list is the Hughes & Kettner Statesman and the Peavey Valveking.
I hear that.... I try not to give GC my money either but when its a solid deal u cannot ignore it...Dogma Hollow wrote: I've not checked out Egnator yet. i've play a lot of shows with a bass player who essentially does that with a YBA200Dogma Hollow wrote:"Hey how do you dial in your amp?"

and he always sounded good..
my bass player tried that once with his YBA200 and it was not a good plan at all...
i think it boils down less to the amp and more to the player.
fuck bobby even recorded every song with it in a different random setting and it sounds good

The Ironhorse sounds a little different than the Darkhorse. I`ve had the smaller one for about 6 months and love it.laterallateral wrote:The Darkhorse also has a big brother now.
The Ironhorse.

I find the Traynors to be more responsive and versatile than the Egnater Tweaker or the Mesa Boogie Trans Atlantic.
The Darkhorse is known for a Vox voicing option which sounds more Marshall-like in a Hendrix way imho. This is where the Ironhorse`s sound differs most from it`s little brother. They have even given that 3rd voicing a different name, which escapes me at the moment.
Great cleans, great with pedals, versatile, and very responsive to playing dynamics. This amp makes me appreciate my boost pedals.
If you can order one with the option of a refund it is certainly an option worth exploring. Cheers.
God damn it! Its a Zombie Apocalypse. Do I have a baseball bat nearby?

Definitely. My Darkhorse absolutely LOVES a cranked LPB-1 when running 6V6 on "Pure" with the gain at like 7:00 and master wide open.24HRS2MDNT wrote: This amp makes me appreciate my boost pedals.
It also loves a great destroyer in the same setting.
I absolutely fucking love this amp. I wish they made a 50W version but I know that's not possible because so much about why it sounds the way it does has to do with the low wattage accomodating circuit topography.
Okay... Digging up my old thread for more advice from qualified amp and Traynor nuts.
Someone is selling these two amps:
Traynor MK.III Head
Traynor YGM-3
He is valuing both at 650, and offered to accept the trade of my CIJ Mustang + $150 or my Fender Bullet + $250 for either amp.
Any opinions on the amps? I just got a 2x12, so a 80w head with reverb is way more exciting to me right now. Any opinions?
I am really interested in Fender style sound, and these old Traynors seem to have a lot of headroom and then get nice and dirty, the head atleast.

Not at that price, I wouldn't. If I am to go by the stock picture he posted, that Mark 3 is of the less desirable late 70's variety.
I don't think Pete Traynor was even involved with the company at that point. Don't get me wrong, it's a rugged as fuck, solid, excellenting amplifier with a deep reverb but there's no way it's worth that much. No more than 5 bills IMO. And ffs, if you do that stang trade, he owes YOU money.

The YGM will make up for it's lack of volume and versatility with an excellent base voicing. I still don't think that's a particularly good price for a vintage one (yes, eventough the reissues command almost twice as much as what that dude is asking). Honestly, I say go for that SF Bassman you posted about earlier and invest in a good reverb pedal. At least this way, you can make your money back, if you ever chose to sell.

Purely resale, my man... I mean people will argue that the trannies are different but they really aren't any different than any late stage "bumper designed" ones.
Electrically speaking that MKIII is identical to the older ones. I'm not saying you won't like it but suppose you do... I can imagine you'd have a pretty rough time getting your money back at that price. That's all.
