I'm sure they'd fit if you widened the routes - WHRBs are quite a lot bigger than standard Humbuckers

Hi mike, These are Enforcer p'ups and allegedly the covers are scaled down to hold a standard humbucker.

Really? That's cool - if they sold them separately they'd make some coin I imagine.

Also I guess the reason it doesn't look insanely cramped on the Mustang

look at the green 72 and the blue mustang closely

the fake WRHB on the mustang looks even smaller than the fake WRHB on the '72. they are both smaller than a real 70's WRHB.

the one on the mustang only has 3 mounting screws and the 72 has 4

Been trying to read into this mess, good to see the active minds in constructive discussion here as usual.

I hope Corona isn't getting the slightest bit envious of irrational left-field amoeba contraptions coming out of Nashville. Sooooper hot humbuckers all over the place are everything that vintage(and Fender vintage reissues) is not, not to mention nothing close to what was on the the majority of humbuck'd Aria Pro, Yamaha, and even '70s Ibanez oldies I was used to seeing and messing about with in pawn shops. Very little I want to like, modding seems like a depressing option, teh Kurtz toanz an easily convenient cop-out if necessary.

Goes without saying that the rather obvious Fender theme of the year (bleeding a bit over into the Squier lines, I might add) is unfortunately "modern tone-directed hard tails and humbuckers", and I think it's fair to stop now.

Yeah seems all or nothing, just about every Fender / Squier / shortscale / Offset has come equipped with humbucker in the last year or so...haha.

Before there wasn't really much about.

Be quite nice to a single coil now... I wish the one above was just like a standard mustang.

Aye. Just as it's almost bizarre how refreshing even this previously-discussed CIJ Jaggo looks, especially right about now:

the Duo Sonic II mustang WRHB is enforcer pups with a cover, the one in the `72 is a reissue WRHB

It doesn't really feel right to call it an R&D department in the traditional sense. Rehashed & Disappointing.

Some more thoughts:

The guard on the '72 is much better than on the '51. The way it is straight above the bridge pickup looks a lot better. The bridge pickup looks crap though, get a cover on it.

Bullet truss rod thing sucks as well. Do not want.

Guy in the video says the mustang has pickups that were only previously available on the lee ronaldo signature jazzmaster. ??? Dunno if that is true, I thought the LRJazzmaster had WRHBs.

Yeah, I picked up on that during the vid too... given everything else bullshit that he said I was skeptical, but didn't look into it. Now I have and, yeah, they're not the same pickup. Dude's talkin' out his ass.

It made me wonder if he was just a bit mixed up. Perhaps what he meant is that the WRHB on the '72 is the revoiced version that's in the Ranaldo Jazzmaster. (I don't actually know if this is true, but perhaps that's where he heard something about the WRHB/LR JM.) Fender's cut sheet is kind of misleading, as it says Enforcer "Wide Range" Humbucking [Neck|Bridge] Pickup with downsized Wide Range covers. I think it was a terrible mistake to use the "Wide Range" name at all with this pickup, but whatever.

We're also a bunch of Fender nerds around here, so it could just be that the dudes who usually do this kind of thing have such minimal knowledge depth about Fender products in general that they really don't even understand what they're talking about.

Yeah, they shouldn't have used "Wide Range" at all for these. It only causes confusion.

Doesn't fly with me.
The review was from Premier Guitar...
premierguitar.com wrote:Our magazine, is considered to be the definitive gear-centric magazine written for serious, accomplished players by serious, accomplished players.
This video and the research that went into it does not hold up to the magazine/site's ethos. A little, ya know, research or even preparation could offset passing along gross misinformation. They're supposed to be gear-centric, you'd think they'd know their gear, no matter the brand (let alone one of the biggest brands)/

Well that's it then, gents. Let us mark this occasion as the first time since Jesus handed movable type down from on high where some giant-ass, advertising-driven mega-publication has fellated itself on its own turf and later failed to properly and thoroughly deliver the straight scoop.

I know it happens all the time... doesn't mean we should just shrug and accept it :P We're justified in our annoyance.

Sounds like what they mean is they've taken the Lee Ranaldo WRHB's out of their fake WRHB style casing, removed the wax filler from around the pickup and put them in standard sized HB casings - which would explain why they look smaller they other WRHB's.
