Ibanez EB-3 (now with pics)

Post by damienblair17 »

Hey guys. What's the most one should pay for an Ibanez EB-3 Bass copy? I'd imagine as long as it's in decent nick it's a solid purchase, even if only to flip. Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

Specifically THIS ONE.

That price seems all right to me (then again what do I know). All the Ibanez's I've played have been solid. so why shouldn't that be too. Plus it has m0j0. And it's a great way to stick it to the Gibsonlawyerfolks! ++all teh doomz that can be had with that.

Back to the price: when in doubt haggle it out.

Considering the high price of most of the lawsuit guitars and basses from that era that seems like a good deal to me.

I was wondering if you saw that on the local craigslist. I fully expect to see that at rehearsal on Friday.

Some pic of the bass:
► Show Spoiler
First impressions: it's pretty light. Neck is decent, pickups pack a bit of a punch. It's definitely got a Gibson sound to it. Turns out it's a full 34" scale. I like it so far. Gonna restring it with Super Slinky strings in the morning and put it through its paces.

Looks awesome! I would stay away from super slinky strings, and ernie ball bass strings in general. I used to use them exclusively and they get all gunky, and lose their tone super fast. Plus they used to break all the damn time! Most people have never heard of bass strings breaking, and I've never broken a single bass string since I stopped using Ernie Balls. I recommend D'Addario, or DR's. And I've heard good things about GHS bass strings from a lot of friends too.

I always use GHS strings, they just work for me. Never broken one. Never. Unlike d'Addario's I used to use.

Thanks for the tips guys, but I've been using Ernie Ball pinks on my bass since I started playing. Never had a break with 'em either.

All the bassists I play with use Elixir super lights, theyre REALLY nice and last for 1-2 years depending on how much you play. Really good strings and if you divide the price up per month they'll work out cheaper than buying lots of sets of coated strings.

Totally my problem, strings last around a day or two if theyre not coated - I do play ALOT though. The one issue I've had is I used to break their lighter gauge strings a lot, but I don't have a problem with their 12s (I do replace the wound third with a plain though).

Maybe my hands just don't sweat so much when I play. I've never felt like I needed coated strings.
