Nu-Sonic: Finished.

Post by ekwatts »

Wired it all up the other day, it works perfectly, and all that's missing is the volume and tone knobs, currently in the post.

Just so's you know, I went from this:

To this:

The electronics are all brand spanking new, I worked from the ground upwards and all that. Surprisingly much simpler than I expected it to be. Sounds chunky as fuck. And because I didn't cannibalise anything from the other pickguard all I need to do to swap it back over is to de-solder the bridge ground wire and throw the other scratchplate on.

This axe is now the spirit of rock and roll.

Way better looking. What are the pups you put in?

GFS Loudmouths, the really powerful ones, 14k for the bridge and 13.5k for the neck or something like that. No coil taps, just a three way rotary switch and a volume and tone control so far. Might possibly add coil taps at a later date maybe.

It's seldom I say this about your kit but: neat work, that looks good.

Black pickguard looks good on it. That's some hot pup's you got there, but how do they sound clean?

Such a massive improvement. Makes perfect sense. Pickup strength probably isn't for me, but aesthetically it's solid gold.

I kinda like the original single coils, but those hums are way better than the original. Ditching the blade selector was an ace choice.
Looks good!

Well done . In all honesty I like both variations but with yours you in no way ruined it . Just your take on it . And them GFS Loudmouths are great pickups . :D
