I made a doodle!

I was playing around with my photoshop and came to an idea of combining two of my favorite basses: the Precision and the Rickenbacker 4000-series (3,4, etc.)
Sorry for the crappy pic. Basically I'd be using a CV P-bass as a canvas, adding Ric pup's, custom pickguard and probably a Mustang bass bridge (I love it, and it looks cool), although I drew the pic with a Ric bridge. Possibly a different neck, if I should come by one that's cheap yet good (and has blocks and binding). No money for some time, so it's on hiatus until I win a lottery or get a decent pay.

What think you, oh Shortscale?

Looks awesome dude. Want a P-bass neck?

P-bass body, with a Block and bound Jazz neck, that awesome pickguard, and Ric electronics would be so fly.

Yup, I'm more inclined to the baseball bat that is the P-bass neck. Nothing against a J-bass neck, it's just where I'm at ATM. Probably would keep the original neck of the CV bass until I get the "real" neck for it. It's basically me trying to get the Ric sound with a budget. Even with the expensive Seymour Duncan pup's the price wouldn't even be half of what a proper Ric would cost me. Haven't yet checked out if I could get them cheaper elsewhere (catswhisker, basically).

REALLY like that design dude. I MAY have a B&B neck going soon. Got it from a Shortscaler. It's nice to look at but there appear to be a couple of broken screws in where the tuners go. Not been brave enough to try and get them out as yet.. I actually got it for a friend so it depends on his final decision about what he wants to do.

No, can't make it white. My Mustang Bass is white, and my eyes just cannot take more than one white instrument at a time. I don't want to be that white dude, I'd rather stay as the sickeningly pale dude.

Do let me know if your friend want's to part with the neck, I'm interested! Cannot buy it straight away, but I do have stuff I can trade/etc. Broken screws are not an issue, as long as the neck is otherwise fine.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n' roll.

Perfect lovechild, IMO. I would play that so hard.

I would use the bridge you put on the picture.

also, I don't think the blocks look a whole lot better. I don't think it's worth the money buying a new neck for blocks and binding.

sharkfin inlays?

I liked the dip in the pickguard below the bridge pickup.

Quite frankly the whole blocks and binding idea stems from a long, unfulfilled desire for them. Sharkfins would be teh most tru, but I'm not going to make them myself, too much of an hassle for my inept hands.

After some research into the matter, I've decided NOT to use a Ric bridge mainly for two reasons: 1. Most of the stuff I've read say how crappy it is. 2. I'd have rout the space for it.
Of course, there's the Hipshot replacement, which should fit on a flat surface and kick ass, but it's very expensive. So basically I'll be using some bigass bass bridge to get the look with intonability (?).

so:
1. Get bass
2. Get parts
3. do work
-insert rawk
4. do an demoz
5. brag.
