One pickup RAWK machines
Bored at work. So, fellow shortscalers! I'd like some ideas for awesome one pickup guitars suited for garage rock, punk, anything loud and gainy.
PROCEED.
EDIT: BTW, I work at a hardware store in paint. yay for computer at the desk.

Fender Esquire GT. Single Seymour Duncan Invader, no tone knob, set-neck. I have one in red. It's loud and gainy.
This one isn't mine... but it's easier to find a photo on an internet than to take a photo of mine.

Esquire with 3-barrel bridge and Seymour Duncan Li'l '59. You'll get the decently fat and meaty chunk of a standard humbucker with just enough of the Tele bridge's edge tone, yet none of the useless pseudo-clean clang of an overdone high-gain humbucker when you need to back things off a bit.
I needed a single coil bridge at the time, but the drive tones in the old Cindicaster Mk.I's bridge position were great for everything heavy. St. Jimmy The ss.org old timers will remember the thing:
The Lizards 'n' Cream stage.

I have a tom delonge strat which is essentially the same thing. I love it. I really like those esquires, and I still kick myself for not picking up a blue one when MF had them on clearance for like $250!StevePirates wrote:Fender Esquire GT. Fender came out with the Esquire GT when Tom bailed for Gibson. I bought mine for $200 at GC on clearance. It the guitar I play the least, but it is fun. I figure if I have kids who have longer fingers than I do, it will make a great first guitar for them.Billy3000 wrote:
