First short-scale! CIJ Mustang Competition...

Post by herrojew »

Hi Everyone,

My first time posting here. I've been a lurker for some time now, checking here for your opinions on different guitars. For the past few weeks, I've been deciding between purchasing a Mustang, Jazzmaster (I know, I know, not a short-scale, but I love the sound), and Hagstrom III. But, I decided to go with a Mustang, and was able to pick a CIJ Mustang Competition RI up on eBay for $600 (including shipping). Here are a few photos (pulled from the listing):

What do you guys think? Was it a good deal?

there's always a chance you could have paid 50 bucks less or so, but so what. If you're happy with the guitar it's fine. ebay is killing the real deals ;)

awesome! I have one just like it that I love. I tried to take it apart to put a new pickup in before I really knew how to solder properly and I wound up fucking up the wiring on the switches, so it's been in parts, I really need to get it put back together so I can play it again! I bought mine used for $400, but that was like 6 years ago before Fender inflated all their prices which probably made the prices for these go up on the used market too.

Also, in writing this post I realized that I bought that guitar my junior year of college, and it has been 6 years since then.... that was my first "Wtf have I been doing for the last 6 years" moment!

It's a good deal. It would take you about $200 extra to import one from Japan, so.

Nice guitar. Did it come with the case? A true Mustang case will run you $150 or more.
