Fender Musicmaster Bass 1974 project restoration
Just bought this bass on Ebay ! paid too much for it (almost the same price than the above nice G&L USA SB-2).
Well, I proposed it to my daughter as a restoration project. So I will post here her progress on the "thing".
Any hints about colour codes would be appreciated.

The G&L looks fantastic. Nice guitar.
My suggestion would be to ignore the stock colours these came in and just ask your daughter what colour she would like it to be, maybe also tell her she can have a white pickguard if she prefers. I don't know how much she already plays of course, but if she's a relative beginner she'd be much more likely to get into it if she can have it whatever colour she wants. It will feel more like it's hers.

Shabba.
Yes, i guess it was originally Olympic white. The actual pickgard is a self cut bit of black plastic. If the bass would be more original, I would leave it as it is... but it doesn't even play well (worn out frets)hotrodperlmutter wrote:+12491BacchusPaul wrote:I think it looks absolutely gorgeous as it is.
with the black pickguard, and fair bit of white showing through, i'd bet money it was originally white.
i vote leave it!
you are right, I will let her choose the colour (she wants it dark red with the white pickgard) . my daughter plays already bass on a Japanese jazz bass squier. She is enthusiastic about restoring this bass herself (I will assist her for sure !)James wrote:The G&L looks fantastic. Nice guitar.
