the arctic monkeys are becoming generic. humbug was good, but the previous two albums were better. the opening lines of that song are terrible. they need another mardy bum.

Looks like they've found drugs and lost the music.

If there is a god and that god was interested in guitars, there are much more important things for him to address first. Like sacking the R&D departments of Gibson and Fender and a few DoS attacks on Offset. I doubt he'd give a toss what guitar this guy played.

Hmm... No-one seems to like them here.

If they were writing songs like their first album everyone would be complaining that he's writing stuff that he doesn't know about anymore. I don't think he hangs out in pubs and clubs in Sheffield anymore...

And it's funny that people say "they've discovered drugs", they used to talk about drugs in their early work, but don't really mention it anymore, and yet they've only recently discovered drugs???

There's a youtube clip at the top of the page with one of their songs, have a quick peep if you haven't heard them...

I also loved the first two records, and the various EP's that they released around them too. But after that they lost their appeal to me. They just don't sound at all like the arctic monkeys that I loved anymore.

Seb, people like them and everything but this new direction (which I thought was pretty cool with Brick by Brick) is looking woefully lacklustre. Plus they seem to have a new Oasis-meets-Kasabian obnoxious rock star persona going on in this video which makes them a lot less likeable.

As for the drugs: yes I know, but this video and the song (and also Brick by Brick) have a large preoccupation with psychadelia and acid, more so than their earlier stuff. Plus, the music's shit, which is often what happens when bands start dabbling hard. That's where my little quip comes from.

I liked the first album, it was good. I don't really care for the other ones.
I always thought the singer was the really good compared to the rest of the band (the last shadow puppets is awesome), but in this song he is the one screwing it...

Trolololol.

I love the way this sounds. It's got a good plod. More my thing than their earlier stuff. It's not amazing, but I like it, and the guitars sound really good and the playing is good.

Oh come on! I know you're as much an Alex Turner fan-girl as I am! I've seen you on the Arctic Monkeys forum!

Never liked them, but the reaction they get on here always strikes me as odd. I suppose that they get a strong reaction because people really liked them before but don't now.

Music-wise this is one of my favourite things they've done. Lyrics are shit though.

I think a lot of people here probably like quite a bit of stuff they've done, they're just not that fussed that he sometimes plays a bronco.

They get a strong reaction because with their first two records there was a very much deserved hype around them. But after that they completely changed their sound, and drove off a lot of their fans.
