Fender Super Champ xD help

Post by crowleyisamuff »

It all powers up but there is no sound what so ever and the tubes are lit.

Have I broke the speaker?

Beginner with amps so not a clue what I've done.

Thanks

Try swapping out the HT Fuse... I fixed an amp the other day this way with the same symptoms.

Oh well thanks for your help anyway, I hope I can fix it without paying out for someone to fix it. I'm so skint!

make sure the speaker is definitely plugged in. it could still be a tube problem.

if it has an FX RETURN, plug someting in there and see if it produces sound. that will help determine if it's a power or pre amp problem.

There is only a place for line out and a footswitch tried both nothing at all.

I think its the tubes how bright are they supposed to glow they're a really dim red/orange colour.

Cheers again for your time!

Tubes in all the tube amps i've had don't tend to glow very brightly. I thought that if they were glowing like light bulbs there is a problem.

The tubes in super champs and vibro champs are woefully underbiased as stock. This was done on purpose by Fender to keep them cool, safe and have a longer shelf life. That'll be why they're glowing dim, not really representative of a problem.

Did you check your speaker cable? As in where it latches onto the speaker itself?

Well, that's my knowledge depleted. If you bought it first hand I'd just return it. To be honest it's probably something minor and not a complete write off, and I've heard of no reliability issues with these amps.

Give this a read...

Should be still under warranty then, i'd take it back to the shop where you bought it from and let them sort it so you don';t have to worry about it.

It should still have a warranty if you bought it brand new. I'd get in contact with the retailer and see what they say, if they're no help contact Fender directly.

It might pay to check the tubes are seated properly in their sockets. I had a similar problem once and wiggling one tube fixed it.
