hah, yeah well I really like most things about strats but think they look so played out, ubiquitous and boring. if you have one that looks kind of more unique (e.g. like a jazzmaster) it's a bit more interesting. that is all. =]

word. I love the way strats sound but have never liked the feel and sound of one. I'm building a strat out of parts now but even still, it's just kind of eh. throw the three pickups and five way switch in a jazzmaster, move the volume but on there, throw a strat jack on. And BAM you're done.
Now I'm interested in a Jazzmaster with Strat pickups haha. I'll have to add that to my long list of future projects that I'm bound to never actually finish.

I didn't have a Jazzmaster neck and Strat necks are a lot cheaper than Jazzmaster necks, at least where I've been looking. And it was quicker to just get a Strat neck than to wait for one from Warmoth.
Musikraft does an incredible jazzmaster neck for pretty cheap when the time comes. If you're handy with a spray can you can finish it yourself.
comes to about 200 shipped in the US. vintage correct headstock. built to your specs. Danocaster uses them a lot. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
Lovely jazz btw!

I'll have to check them out, thanks. If I need to I can always look on Youtube about finishing.
I have been mulling over the idea of switching out my GFS pickups for some Seymour Duncan SJM-2's. Would it be a big upgrade to do so? I've had a major hard-on for Duncan pickups as of late.
And thanks for the many kind words. Makes up for the large amount of frustration and anger that went into getting it done, that's for sure.
