They seem to ask for payment via paypal, if you don't return the pedal how in that case can they recoup the cost of the pedal if you decide not to return it?

There's also a a recent law enforcing a "7 day cooling-off period" that's applicable on every new online purchase (excluding underwear and food etc). You can return it for whatever reason you want and get all money, including postage, refunded. So really you can order new boutique pedals 'til the cows come home and return them after a week already, and free of charge.
