wiring diy cab
EDIT This different cable thing made me think. I was going to us a marshal mg15cd combo has a 1x8 cab to connect the dual terror at home. I thought i just needed to solder some wires to the + and - on the speaker, and then connect those wires to an input jack (like the ones used on pedals). hould i use some kind of special wire o jack?

I run a DT thru a Orange Open Back 2x12..... LOVE IT!!!!!!!! It takes pedals decently with some tweaking, what ever pedal u run to it sounds like it has some Orange Flavor which I like
Open back gives u more of an open sound that breathes and has more mids and high end
Closed back has tighter lows but does not sound as open but does project the sound out farther in one direction
Open Backs are fun to kill your drummers ears with cuz the sound is not projecting forward as much...
whatever you do do not cheap out on a cab, Get a Solid Built, solid ply cab.... Cheap cabs will make ur head sound like crap
I went with the Open back because it is smaller and was like $200 cheaper

I«m buying this one for now, http://www.thomann.de/pt/harley_benton_ ... 6b47729818
People say they're really worth it for much they cost. And i know that in less then a year i'll end up buying an orange 4x12 or something like that (maybe i'll get 4 cheap 4x12 :p )
Now lets talk speaker cable. I've been reading they are different from instrument cable, and that using instrument cable in a speaker can damage the amp and speaker. Truth or internet bullshit?
Thomann has a million different cable speakers, any advice, or i should just get the cheapest one because it doesn't really affect the sound like i read one guy say?!

You must buy a speaker cable, using an instrument cable will fuck your amp - in particular your output tubes, I think. I bought mine from a cable shop on Denmark Street, I have no idea who makes them. I would assume though that like instrument leads you pay for what you get, more money = better sound and less likely to break. Make sure you buy a spare though if you're going to gig with it.
I'm probably getting a planet waves cable. I've been a planet waves cable to connect my pedals to amp for around 5 years, so they're good in my book.
