Decent Acoustic transducer and hidden preamp ?

Post by othomas2 »

I bought a Neo-D passive humbucking pickup and joined it a pre-amp power jack...

Never been so let down. Sounds rubbish, and under powered. GRRrrr.

Anyone recommend something better ?

Between £100-150 would be ideal.

thanks

Lots of famous players use the LR Baggs M1, its not cheap though:

edit:

When I'm using an acoustic live I just stick an SM57 at just past the 12th fret pointing towards the soundhole and get a nice sound from my Larrivee. Its not the the easiest setup to use though - can't move much.

But seeing as I rarely play acoustic live I haven't had much incentive to get a pickup system.

Andy Mckee uses this:

Which is meant to be really sweet but it'll probably be pricey.

Also if it were me I'd try something like this:

I have no idea how much it costs though.
