I'd like to get the body from an old strat going again if possible. There is a crack that extends from the screw hole on the upper trem spring retainer and straight up along the neck pocket.
Any way I can sure this up? I plan to rebuild only using only a bridge pickup.
A sensible person might advise you to get some glue into the crack, maybe thinned down a little, then clamp. Though I wouldn't claim to be at all sensible though.
I've clamped half the body down on a table, with the other half hanging off the edge of the table. Push down on the half off the table, to open up that crack... while trying to force glue into it. It's harder then you think to get glue into that crack. If you got a stringe, use it... or just credit cards to pack in as much glue as you can. Thinning the glue out will definitely help the glue pentrate deeper.
Ahh, I was wondering how to open it up. It is really hard. Might need a second set of hands. Good idea on thinning the glue to get it in better. Thank you.
