...a Rat in disguise, but with more knobs? I opened mine up to see what looked like a metal can LM308 painted black and it made me wonder.

Based on owner knowledge i dont think so, it has ten times the EQ range of a RAT and more transparency. Post up a gutshot for Miek, Tim and Co..

Ah, but you won't be able to make a clone with the same tone unless you know what make of paint was used to conceal the details of the LM308...

I haven't compared my DP-1 against any other decent pedals

But, I think it's essentially a higher gain OCD. I tend to use it with the gain pretty low, it's not exactly an idea pedal for my use, but it is pretty nice.

I like mine a lot, I use it with the gain at 12 o'clock, but my perfect pedal would have a touch more bite, if that means anything to anyone other than me.

I find mine works great with the dropped A tuning. The notes still have clarity and it does'nt become a muddy mess like with some pedals. Works well with the clean Laney valve head too.

I used to use mine a lot with bass too. Works really well with both bass and guitar. Never find it gets muddy, really.

I tend to have the saturation cranked down for a loose, ragged OD/dist. with a touch of sag to it. I love the sound.
The Mids and Highs adjustments really let ya dial in a nice sound... the frequency knob isn't as handy as I want it to be though.

I got mine used for about $120, and have, generally, been pretty happy with it.

I like mine with the saturation right up so that when i'm playing plucky string riffs the sound has a bit more balls. I have the treble right up with the bass and mids about half way.

Mine was Â£67 off ebay, pretty reasonable I thought compared to what OCD's go for.

stick a mild overdrive or a boost in front of it *coughtubescreamercough* and it can burn your eyebrows off. you might ned to roll off the saturation a bit depending on the gain level of what's in front.

Yeah, I've pushed the DP-1 with a Jackhammer... at least with a bass, it's a killer sound. Not sure how it is with guitar though.
