NGD #2: Ocean Turquoise Metallic AVRI Jazzmaster (IMG HEAVY)

Post by mtotallywired »

Turns out selling stuff you don't actually need (in this case a 62 RI MIJ Strat and 4x10 Pro-tube Fender Super Amp) can turn
into GOLD! or Turquoise, in this case :D

Image

It's in near mint condition, except the decal sorta scrunched together on the "r" Don't have too many plans for this, except to play the heck out of it, and maybe throw in some Pickup Whiz CBS style pickups, not because the stock AVRI's are no good, but because I'm really loving the other set I got from him.

Very nice!!! My dream guitar is a jazzmaster and I would love an Ice Blue Metallic or Ocean turquoise metallic one!

I have both colors. here's my jag! they are both so incredible looking, and also SO very hard to photograph in terms of capturing the true colors.
I think on a PC for example, my pics of OTM look Lake Placid Blue, but I upload and edit them on a Mac and even then it looks much bluer than in real life.

Yea Ice blue metallic is one of the hardest colors to photograph. It looks so much better in person.

Definitely. Which is why I kind of prefer solid and lighter fender custom colors better than the metallics. I wouldn't mind trading this body for one that's surf or seafoam green or fiesta red BUT, the OTM is really growing on me. I know mint guards are proper for custom colors, however I almost find that gigantic block of light color right in the middle to be overwhelming on darker bodies, and seem to steal away from the beautiful finish. call it heresy but on darker metallics, I like a good tort ;)

My favourite colour Jazzmaster - now I've got my surf green, I'm going to stick with it, but I still rue the day I missed an auction for an OTM Jazzmaster with a tort guard. Had an IBM Jag like yours too.

Yeah, I need something in surf green now. Maybe another jag. I'm set in the jazzy department until an affordable vintage piece comes within view.

ps. This would've been a Fiesta Red Jazzmaster had my browser not made me re-login to ebay with only 35 seconds remaining to put in a final bid! DOH!

Wow! What a coincidence, I was planning on posting this...
here's mine with tort! I got this recently from the bay. Check the wide vintage style beveled edges.
I really dig it, but the seller won't tell me who made it or where the blank came from. When I asked him if I could get another one made
he said "no." pretty weird, if you ask me. Everything about it is cool, except he didn't do the truss-rod notch dead center, so it's kinda "offset" har har. anyway, i think the reddish celluloid tort really makes that turquoise pop out! Also look at these pics, on the right side of the guitar is overcast sky-light shining in through a window, on the left is a soft white light. Look at how the color gradiates from greenish to really blue! OTM is like magic :)

Love that look... RobOG and I admired that combo throughout the entirety of White Drugs set at the Amrep 25th Anniversery Show.
