My God I want an Explorer

Post by h8mtv »

I keep finding myself staring at Explorers. I think I need one. I hope I can find a kit. I really am pretty dazzled by the Melody Maker Explorer. I like the V headstock better than the banana shape.

A bit on the trashy cheap and rather small, but preceding the Melody Maker version was the Explorer GT. Inexpensive, two pickups.

Oops, bolt-on neck and mystery body wood. Dingus' links or a $500 Epiphone might not be a bad idea after all.

GF is out or stock but I might have to get one from BYO. I wonder how good the quality of the kits are.

Epi Goth Explorer. You get a Killswitch knob and awesome Satin black finish. $400.

By the way, what style are you after, h8mtv?

One of the black variations would seem to be in the ballpark, though the MIK Epi Korinas I've been around look and play really sweet, and would be something I'd likely take over a current Qingdao Epi LP or the like. Most out there being a decade old or so, I'm sure you could find one fairly on the cheap.

Besides, you could also get your Evans on and do an gigue.

The Dean Baby Z usually sells dirt cheap in the UK.
The model without the big headstock looks quite cool because the body is small, been tempted myself a few times..

Love black ones with a white pickguard. but this is also a winner if I could ever afford such a creation.

I actually kinda dig that one. In general, I don't much care for Explorers (I find the curves of Thunderbirds/Firebirds much more), but sometimes they strike my fancy. That headstock makes a big difference, I think.
