Last week I was in FLA and I went to Guitar Center in West Palm Beach
I went in the room were they had the expensive guitars and in a glass case that had a Red Sparkle Rickenbacker 330. I forgot to take a picture but I looked at the GC webpage and they had this picture of it.
"This guitar has been re-done head to toe by Mark Johnson of MJ Guitars. All electronics have been upgrade to cts pots and higher end caps. The electronic cavity has been shielded. Plays and sounds amazing. The pictures do not do this guitar justice. The color is a deep sparkle red with an amber to orange tint. Must be seen to be believed! Pickups are a higher output custom wound with adjustable pole pieces. A true one of a kind! The binding edge is the wood of the body!
Simon wrote:Do not like. I really can't see the attraction to a sparkle finish. The neck looks stupid too...
What's not to like about red sparkle?
(Contains obligatory guitar content)

I don't know, it's just a personal preference. If I saw that in a guitar shop, it's probably the last guitar I'd gravitate towards... only if there wasn't a Jackson!
I don't remember it being a spectacular guitar, but in hindsight, it could've been better than I was giving it credit for. I think I paid the same price for mine, only it had a bigsby instead of the hardtail. One of the tuning buttons snapped off in a well padded case on the way to practice, so I just returned it to GC 2 weeks after I bought it.

I always wanted to try one of these. I didn't know they cam in Red Sparkle until you mention it. What are the pickups? some kind of mini humbuckers?
They're full size buckers with chrome rings. They look kind of like those tv jones hum sized filtertrons but I think they were just normal output humbuckers. I couldn't tell you how good they sounded since I don't think i had a real good amp at the time
