Gotta say I like the blue with black scratch plate a lot, along with the white pups. Would look fine!

Is that the legendary BroStang? Why is it called the BroStang and who has it now?

it is called the brostang because it had a bronco neck which made it very non-mustang like to play.

serfx has it now, but i've just discovered an old pm in my inbox about him wanting to part ways with it. i'd love it back, but won't have the scratch anytime soon to reacquire it.

I have not come up with a cool name for the black/sunburst one. I thought maybe Two Face, BackBurst or Mullet-Stang (business in front and party on the back) :)

+1, Mulletstang would be the perfect name.

What a cool project... :) ...two Mustangs!

For the first one, I really like your preference for the matching headstock. The cream body & headstock with an aged ivory pearloid pickguard would look really good in my opinion. The aged yellowed pearl would harmonize with the cream. No comp stripes.

For the two-face, again I'd use the aged ivory pearloid pickguard. That yellowed pearl would harmonize between the dark body and the natural headstock.

And both your Mustangs would have a unifying element. Whatever you pick, have fun!

Earl Lee Mullet's Revenge 8)

I'm a sucker for CAR or any Comp finish :D

Or you could always do a sunburst top with black back

Reverse Mullet-stang? Probably not. Color is the hardest thing for me to decide on any guitar.

I am taking off work and going to the Dallas Guitar show on Friday. Hoping to score some Mustang parts or maybe an Bullet Cable. I would love to find the control plates, pickguards or something else cool. They always have good Mustangs at the show to help me decide on the color to paint the project mustang.

Unfortunately, the show was bust as far as parts was concerned. I got to see lots of vintage Mustangs up close and color combinations. There was a Seafoam green Jaguar with matching Headstock that was gorgeous. I could see the Mustang in those colors. Right now it's 10 votes for Seafoam Green and 8 for Shell pink. I love the pink on Aen's tele, I wonder if it's Shell pink or another shade.

between seafoam green and shell pink, it's hard to decide! BUT since you're building two, you can do both right???

One body is already finished and the other one is a scratch project build. I still haven't decided yet, but I can put the entire guitar together before I have to worry about it.

I have an era Mustang question. My template for the Mustang is based on a 1964-65 Mustang and the Mullet-stang body I have is a 1977-78 Mustang body. When I was checking the accuracy of the template, I noticed the upper and lower horns appeared shorter on the template. Is that correct? I know the horns were enlarged in the 70's, but are they longer?

Unfortunately, if you find just the neck, the prices are sky high usually. If you see one floating about for a decent price, let me know. I should have some money this summer.
Sorry, not a decent price, but there is one on eBay (link)

I saw that one. $500 for a neck is crazy, even a rare one like that. I could probably find the whole guitar for a little more.

I was asking for $50 less than that for a whole maple stang.
