I'd never heard of anything like this or believed there was any sort of a market for it, but colour me surprised. I've read around a wee bit and they seem to get good reports, but then if you'd just spent $35 on a small plastic triangle, you'd probably convince yourself that it sounded great. Reports say that that they last a lifetime instead of blunting like normal picks, so provided you don't lose it (and no-one ever loses plectra, eh?) you should never have to spend money on plectra again. Also, the argument that the pick material will have a significant influence on tone is a convincing one. I suppose it would be a nice gift for a guitarist who has everything and is impossible to buy for, or for a music graduate or something. I dunno.
I thought I'd post it here for completion's sake, I suppose.
Wonder if we can get "do an riff" on a stack of these.

I think thickness, texture (gloss/matt) and material make a huge difference. However, for $35 I'd compromise on something cheaper even if it was amazing.
If it was a gift you'd have to hope the giftee would attach the same reverence and appreciation that you did when buying it. Sadly I think many people would say, "it's just a plectrum"; after explaining how pricey it is they'd probably laugh at you and call you a numpty.
Also, it's brown so it would be impossible to see if you dropped it on wood floors, carpets and stages. And that's $35 down the swanee.

About 3 or 4 years ago I bought a job lot of about 50 plectrums for a fair bit less than that. I still have loads left and i've not noticed any to be significantly worn. The material may have extra 'tone' but would it really be that noticeable when you take into account all the other things that effect tone? Seems like a blues-lawyer attracting waste of money to me.
Stupid price, its like Red Bear Picks which a lot of session musicians use, but theyre stupidly expensive. I couldn't justify spending the £3 per pick that V picks cost, even though theyre amazing. I'd rather spend 60p for ultex jazz iiis thanks.
Fuckin V picks man
If somebody made a 3mm lil stubby out of a "quiet" material like Delrin or something I'd be straight
*edit*
Seeing as how alot of bluegrass guys that used to use tortoise shell (I never have and never will) use these picks, and my playing leans towards bluegrass at times, I might try out one. Just one. I'll let you guys know how it feels, sounds, etc.
