boost pedals

Iâ€™m thinking about buying a boost pedal, and am looking for suggestions what do you guys use?

I use an MBM salt booster and am well happy with it.

salt booster..... but am interested to try a few others.....

the salt booster is great but is a bit thick/wooly for my tastes in some situations (mainly with Humbuckers)..... but if I roll my volume knob back a bit it will take some of the thickness away and works great with a tad less boost

but if ur looking for a clear thick boost tone that reacts well to ur guitar controls this is ur bag

These are technically clean boosts, although variously 'hairier' or gainier. The MXR micro amp is a very good, very clean boost.

I once had a MXR/Custom Audio Electronics Boost/Line Driver which was a great very transparent boost.

The Salt booster is definitely clean but it changes your tone, it definitely adds some balls to the sound.

I don't have any experience with any completely transparent boosts. I really like what the salt boost does to my clean tone, it makes it bigger all around not just louder.

Just recently I've tended to have mine permanently on, kinda defeating the purpose of a boost, but I really like the way it gives my guitars a bit of oomph. It's also quite pleasing to crank the shit out of the amp and then tame with an almost zero'ed saltbooster. At risk of sound like a 15 year old emo...

Mine is almost always on as well.

Though I got a plane ticket not too long ago... might need to to do a shoot out between the two.

Bit of a bizarre suggestion, but I actually really like the boost setting on my Behringer Super Fuzz, I use it loads more often than I use the fuzz.

Yes its quite beefy. The clean boost on Marshall BB2's is quite good too.
Either one is possibly the cheapest second hand option here plus you get dirt sections as well.

I have a Boss Hyper Fuzz and on the boost setting I find with all the knobs turned down it has too much of an increase in volume for my liking, is it the same on the Superfuzz or am I just being a pussy (ref Hurb's Saltbooster demo from ages ago).

It seems to vary from amp to amp. I usually have it turned up to about halfway with my Tiny Terror, but I have to turn it down for pretty much every other amplifier I've played through. Same with all my other dirt pedals, in fact.

that is what the Salt Bosster is based off of and from what I have read the Salt booster is cleaner and more balanced than the LPB1...... but I have never used the LPB1 before

Is there a pedal that acts like the mid-boost circuit of an Eric Clapton Stratocaster? Or even better, is there someone who can take that circuit and put it in a stomp box?
