i want this, but can't find them anywhere but on UK sites, was it available to the north american market or am i going to have to bend over and take the UK shipping fees?

UK guitar prices + shipping + customs = You'd probably be better off buying a better EB style bass for similar money and painting it pelham blue yourself (reranch sell that colour now).

Isn't a Bronco Bass the obvious mod platform for a Bass VI?

Pelham blue is a fantastic color, I agree.
But no human is fit to be seen with a pelham blue axe. It's really that cool.

The Pelham Epi Thunderbird was a GC exclusive so maybe this is too. I must say though, while not shortscale, the Epi EB3 is a substantially better value than their EB0.

I've never seen one of these. I would totally consider one if I found one! I've considered one of these to mod the hell out of just for fun.
