Small Valve Amps

We are talking of down sizing things in the band to cut out storage costs and needing a fleet of vehicles every time we do a gig. Plus i miss having a Valve Amp that has a drive section but i will still keep my current set up in case the need arises.

Looking for suggestions as i dont have a lot of money to just hit anything i please and i'm curious if the 15w heads made by the likes of Hayden, Blackheart, Orange etc will cut through a drummer?

If i can get a better quality head alone for the same price as a combo i'd rather go that route and build a 2x12.

My limit will be around £200 as its a case of what i want to sell to fund this. At the top of that i've seen Tiny Terrors go for around £200, at the bottom there's stuff like the Harley Benton amps.
Any suggestions as to what could suit or what to avoid is appreciated.

Hayden stuff is nice, if you can find it for the right price. Laney stuff is also awesome.

My Tiny Terror can be heard over a drummer easily. Our drummer is LOUD and I usually only have the volume at about 5 or 6 for gigs. Do an TT.

My Darkhorse will cut through a full band mix, no problem.
...And it's surprisingly quiet compared to other 15 Watters I've tried.

i would say go Laney Lionheart
but probably out of your budget but there cheaper amps are awesome too

I would recommend a used Peavey Classic 30 or Laney VC30

you could possibly get a Laney VC15 for that price, I know it's a combo but it can do what you need to do though. It has a cab out so you can run it through a 2x12. The drive channel has a great range of sounds from crunch to fuzz and the clean channel is great and both channels take pedals well. It's not high gain modern metal but it can do classic rock sounds on its own. I've not had it up against a drummer but I hear it can hold its own but the 10inch speaker might need the added benefits of a cab.

Thanks for the replies.
The 10" speaker option worries me a little with the low tuning but it would be nice to stay with Laney.
My friend still has a Peavey Valve King 1x12 for sale at £200, which is another option.

How about a Bugera V22? I thought they had a head version but it's not on their website.

They can sound pretty decent, not really my thing as they're really high gain but it was quite nice the one I tried. For £200 I'd say go for it and then I'd mess around with some tube swaps to try and make it a little more lively.

Yeah, the self-biasing feature on the VK is neat for clueless modders like me.

J7 i saw the Bugeras on Thomann, i'll try and find some demo's later.

yeah TT and Harley Benton 1x12" all the way. I have a 1x12" Harley Benton I'd be willing to let go for free also if you wanted it Fran.

How long before you sell Reece? I'm pretty sure it is the best choice based on past SS meets and i should have bought Hurbz last year.
