What pickups do you have in your Mustang?
A while back I decided to put the original bridge pickup in my 78 stang. I found the sound to be... weak. not "vintage", not low output, just weak.
Ive since put in a hot rails and gone Kurt Cobain on the thing... but sometimes I feel like putting single coils in it and setting up the vibrato proper and everything.
with that in mind: what do you use for mustang pickups? the stock ones are out of the question since they dont really drive my distortion pedals well.

Hot Gold is just slightly brighter than a Gold, a bit brighter, a bit hotter, a bit more of everything.astrozombie wrote:what about lace sensor red

I think Red would work fine but my experience with the Red has been that it's a bit too dark for my tastes. Now, I love two Golds or two Hot Golds in series (which a Hot Gold Bridge is, basically). I think my ideal Mustang would have a Lace Hot Gold Dually in the bridge and I would make one of the switches into a coil selector, aww yeah.
Kicking and squealing Gucci little piggy.

I use Dimarzio. Simple the best pickups for me.

Are Mustang pickups notably different to Strat ones actually?
Would you say a Mustang differs soundwise from a Strat as much as a Jag?
I'd kind of like to try Tele pickups in a Mustang maybe.

I know the ones that came with my stang are a tad weaker than usual strat pups.Medicine Melancholy wrote:Are Mustang pickups notably different to Strat ones actually?

in terms of construction: mustang pickups arent staggered the way strat pickups are.
the mustang is its own thing, while a jaguar doesnt necesarily sound like a small guitar with the stock pickups... the stang kind of does.
