Jazzmaster neck in UK?

Post by johnnyseven »

I have 2 Jazzmasters, one has a B&B neck. I much prefer a regular Jazzmaster neck and i'm thinking of putting a regular neck on my B&B JM. Anyone know where I can get one in the UK?

A Strat.

No, but seriously, A 7.25" with CBS style headstock will do won't it?

Thanks George. I was wondering if a Strat neck would fit but know nothing about radius and shape, does a Jazzmaster typically have a 7.25" radius? What kind of shape do Jazzmaster necks have - C or V?

Axesrus seem to have a load of types on offer, anyone have any experience of their necks?

It is bound but you don't really notice it...or I have a maple one too..I love BB necks you see and have always wanted one for my black jazzmaster.

I'm not sure what Jazzies you've got but all non-Classic Players should have a 7.25" radius with vintage fret wire, to the best of my knowledge. As far as C or V goes, I think all the reissues have a C shape but I have no idea about vintage - probably allsorts.

Thanks Hurb, i'll have a bit of a think about this as my idea was to keep the original neck in case I ever sell the guitar on - also it has a CAR headstock. Did you post a photo of your neck/guitar? My work computer doesn't always show pics but I can look when i'm at home.

George, my Jazzmasters are both 'Created in Japan' models with, I think, R serial numbers.

Edit - i've just realised that there is a picture of this particular guitar in my avatar, headstock isn't visible though.

I did post a picture yeah. the colour doesnt really bother me. I have just always wanted one. call me shallow.

Just let me know your feelings through pm's or whatever when/if you decide.

edit: you could always do a swap under the condition of if one of us hated the necks we could swap back?

I think you'll be after 7.25" C shape with vintage frets then. I imagine Axesrus, Allparts UK or Mighty Mite could have something.

This looks promising. A few necks down they have one with everything except the big headstock...

I think i'm going to keep the B&B neck for now and keep my eye out for a JM neck on ebay. Thanks for the offer of a swap Hurb, if I change my mind you'll be the first to know.
