Great spanking idea from Gibson for us hot single coil lovers.

But last time I checked, Gibbo tapping a single coil and calling it a "split" pickup in the product description headline is a misnomer. What's worse, Them saying P90s are "one sound" pickups implies that somebody in-house forgot about the tone pot...I hear the opposite from all kinds of folks, and myself have had a lot of fun rolling off the top of both P90s in my Emily SG for more than "one sound". [/snicker]

Poor Gibson write-up aside, the $3400MSRP also incited me to lose the rest of my attention.

The black one is sexy.

However, I am curious what it will retail for... as it's a Gibson I expect the price to be high, I am curious how high.

In full mode each pickup sounds like a traditional thick, snarly Alnico V P-90 in its position (approximately 7kHz in the neck position and 8.6kHz in the bridge), but lift the push-pull switch on each pickup's volume control, and resistance levels drop to 5kHz and 6kHz respectively,

..but STUPID!

If they were sold here they'd cost â‚¬2000 or more. If I wouldn't get but raped on the shipping I would buy one.

Would love one. Not for that price.

But what I do have is very close. Gibson BluesHawks.

Some of you know the BluesHawk is a slighlty smaller size than an LP, chambered and with F-holes...just 6 lbs. Lovely P-90s (technically heavily wound Blues-90s). A Fender-scale neck. Dummy coil. And 5 pre-set tones selector (Varitone). With volume & tone controls typical for an LP.

I have two and they play beautifully. Including HSCs, I paid $750 each. I talk 'em up because BluesHawks may be the best sleeper out there. And if you're on a budget....

I know that novak winds tapped jazzmaster pickups. he would probably do a P90 too.

Christ almighty, does ANYONE actually know what they're talking about at this company??
