Like Explorers?

Post by westtexasred »

I saw an explorer like the one below today. Made for Mars Music circa 2001. The one I saw looks very clean and is mostly original except it has a new stoptail piece and speed knobs. not abig deal because the replacements look the same as the originals. The only thing I am not sure about is the finish. The finish on the top looks flat but the sides and back are glossy.Have you ever seen a Gibson finish that was flat on the top but glossy on the sides and back? It looks really good but I never saw a gibson finished like that before. Seller wants $800 for it.

I have always wanted an explorer or Dean Z but I have just never bought one cuz I refuse to buy a guitar that I cannot play sitting AND standing..... But I have always LOVED them

I actually played an explorer sitting down and found it incredibly comfortable. I would totally rock one.

Granted the one I played while sitting down was a long time ago, and I have a long torso and long arms, but I don't remember getting poked in the pit while playing it.
