Fender "White Chicken", a White-Falconed Tele...

Post by avj »

I came across this a few hours ago, direct from a Fender employee; it's a one-off Custom Shop deal, not production. I think it looks pretty sweet.

I grabbed one and uploaded it to the SS uploader so as not to steal the fellow's bandwidth, but obviously the photo credit is his.

He has a bunch of other cool shots of Custom Shop work scattered throughout the other posts as well.

Pretty much ace stuff. I think I may have cut back on the knobs a bit as it veers towards over crowded on the lower half but very swish. Also like the 12 string tele with the orange comp stripe.

If it has the carved 1-piece body like the Custom Shop Nashville one-off from a few years back, I'm sure it will be a stunner to play as well.

Don't want to hijack this thread, but there have been a lot of gold hardware-clad custom jobbers out this year that ooze glorious amounts of schmoooze.

Do you mean this one, Ultra? I think it may have been you who originally posted this. Man oh man, I really love this pic, I swoon to it semi-anually:

The "chicken" is a clever touch on the white one.

Pretty sure it's master volume.

2-vol, 1 tone in the back.

And yeah, Paul posted the lovely CS Tele I was referring to, though I remember a shot taken in brighter lighting [/splitting hairs]

I don't like the relief'd body but it's a stunning guitar. Too garish for me to play but love the concept.

All the gold on the guitar in the OP is giving me a stomach ache.

Like many folks, I'm not a huge fan of gold hardware—but in the context of recreating the look of a White Falcon on the Tele platform, it's amazing.

Gretsch just really does gold right, and I think a lot of why I feel they're so lovely has to do with texture. Instead of a bunch of wide, flat, shiny boring runs of gold, there are multiple shades and textures in play.
