That does give you some idea, but they are different beasts. The Tune-O-Matic and Adjust-O-Matic bridges are similar in that they're 2-post bridges, but the actual mechanics differ somewhat, as does how you can approach adjusting them.
yeah, i know they work differently. out of curiosity i've read stuff about them on the interwebz and watched youtube vids about them.
out of curiosity (and based on your verbage), ank went ahead and explained to you that having a TOM on a LP or SG wouldn't really explain that you know how a mustang/jag/jazz bridge work on their respective trem units, because they're totally fucking different.

i'm not saying i know how they work based on knowing how a TOM works. i'm saying that it gave me a general idea and i've watched jag/jazz/mustang setup vids to get a better idea of how they work.
