Isn't a Jag pickup basically a Strat pickup with a bit of shielding though? The Jag sound mostly seems to come from the Trem unit

I think that Claw really does have something to do with the sound. For me the sound isnt super distinct clean, but dirty it really stands out.

Jags often sound a bit more like Teles than Strats. Teles also have a load of metal on the bridge. Maybe having lots of metal nearby affects the tone?

I really disliked the CIJ/MIJ HH special when i tried it.
The neck was nothing like my CIJ. It was like a sticky baseball bat. The pups were kinda weak too. Im hoping for better from the new mexis tbh.

I enjoy the clubby round C neck on the MIJ, I have larger hands so its easier to get around on than my thin '78 Musicmaster neck.
