Gibson Firebird Non-Reverse Studio

Looks pretty hot, coil tappable P-90s too. I don't really like the look of the pickup-selecter switch, or the fact that it hasn't got the old-school banjo tuners.

I can't seem to find a price, but I bet it is over-priced as ever.

I've always hated how the "non reverse" firebirds don't look anything like what a firebird would look like flipped.

They weren't supposed to, nor does the term "non-reverse" reference the Firebird. The Firebird was based on a flipped Jazzmaster but Fender got pissed about it, so the term "non-reverse" just meant they were no longer flipping the Jazzy. The original Firebird was meant to cop a Fender vibe in every way, that space-age look (they got a '50s auto designer to draw it) the custom colours (Pelham, Fiesta-type red) etc... and perhaps most tellingly, a "reverse" Fender-style headstock which is "non-reverse" on the non-reverse.

I actually hate non-reverse firebirds, but when it comes to the cheapo studio versions Gibson have definitely done better with this one than the regular firebird studio.

I'd take 3 P90s over zero minihums anyday.

Is it the one that came out as a Gould first before Eastwood snapped it up? I remember the Gould in Dawsons for something daft like £149 at one point (Yes! In Dawsons!), three P90s, sunburst and it played like magic and sounded fucking great. I should have bought that thing. Shoulda, woulda, coulda...

The body shape is cool but I don't like the overall look of the guitar, it's too furniturey or something, reminds me of an 1950s kitchen. A lot of Gibsons seem to go for this look though, it has an "old school" vibe. I don't quite get it.
