Just read the Offset thread about this new Jazzmaster. Seriously, I know plenty of people here make out like the Offset vs. Shortscale thing is just a bit of fun, but they really are all complete and utter fucking dickbags. I bet they rate their shits. Any fecal matter containing, for instance, Chinese food is automatically rated a 10. Any shits resulting from Mexican food is rated a 7.5 for instance.theshadowofseattle wrote:oh my god, fuck those guys. fuck that fucking forum.MikeG wrote:Just peered through the windows of the Offset clubhouse. Other than that, that thing looks like my teenage dream come true. This is what I have ALWAYS wanted from Squier. Everybody is going to drawl on about the lack of a trem lock, the colour combo (which I think is amazing; proper vintage Fender), blah, blah, blah. But fuck youse. This is it. I feel like somebody just told me I stand a chance of going to Legoland. If you know anything about me you'd understand how serious this shit is.

I'm really interested in the weight on these things. The previous Squier was lighter than all the other offsets I tried in the store bare the Duo Sonic & Mustang. If it keeps the weight(Basswood tends to be lighter doesn't it?) it might be a worthwhile choice over the CP models.
Would have rather a Squier Classic Vibe Jag though.

I can't quite believe Squier / Fender are doing so many offsets / shortscales... I have a feeling it'll come to an end soon.
Price as expected:

The majority of them are either still pretty expensive or kind of "Eh" though.
Like I can get a CP Jaguar which is a bit pricey for me personally, or a Vintage Modified which I can more than afford but is nothing like a Jaguar. The VM Jazzer is a bit closer, but it's still not what I want.
This is big deal because it's the first "proper" Offset at a decent price. We have had this luxury with Strats and Teles for the longest time, but not offsets.
I'll probably still try and find a CP Jag, but if I still can't afford one, I may look to picking one of these up.

I think the JM and Strat necks are basically the same, I could be wrong though. May be some difference at the heel.othomas2 wrote:I'm kinda hoping they stole the neck from the Classic Vibe 60s strat .... is that even possible ?
Such a nice neck !!

I love it. Looks incredible. I might buy. And I don't need to be buying a guitar.
I am predicting a $399 street in the USA. The most expensive Squiers right now are some classic vibe tele models at $379. The Jazzmaster has some more complex appointments, plus they have to cover the endorsement deal somehow, so I imagine these being $399. But if they are less then all the better, and if they are more, well i dont see em being so close in price to the Blacktops

There is circle shaped sliding piece at the top that locks the tremolo down when slide towards the strap button and unlocked when pushed toward the neck. This new JM Squier JM tremolo is definitely like the Blacktop Jazzmaster and CP Jag/Jazz guitar in terms of placement and has no lock like the Blacktop Jazzmaster. The CP Jag/JM have the locking trems. Basically, just like the Blacktop.damienblair17 wrote:I can't see much of a difference between the trem on the Mascis and the Blacktop. how do you tell if it has the trem lock or not? Also, it looks about the same distance from the bridge to me.
Normal Jazzmaster tremolo
